The Active Travel Ambassador (ATA) programme gives young people aged 11 upwards the confidence and skills to tackle the transport issues affecting your school.
With support from a Modeshift ATA Coordinator and school staff, the ATA teams will research and develop behaviour change campaigns, focusing on active travel and road safety.
The ATA programme links to the curriculum and students will develop skills in:
- Project Management
- Presenting and public speaking
- Leadership
- Collecting and analysing data
- Marketing and Promotion
Programme Structure
The ATA programme consists of several sessions led by our ATA Coordinators at a time that suits your school. The ATA teams then complete self-led sessions as ‘homework’ and deliver the final campaign.
Benefits
• Travel and transport issues that are experienced outside of your school will be tackled.
• ATA students will learn new skills to pass on to their peers and leave a legacy in their school community.
• The ATA programme counts towards Modeshift STARS Accreditation.
• Students and staff will have the opportunity to build links with transport professionals and organisations.
Events
To give ATA students the chance to meet other ATAs, share ideas and receive professional feedback, they will be invited to attend a Campaign Junction event during the academic year. Students will have the opportunity to pitch for funding to support their campaign ideas.
