Schools across the country reaching for the STARS at Regional Awards
Throughout November the Modeshift STARS Education Regional Awards took place across the country. Five events took place in London, York, Birmingham and Bristol. Over 90 nominated schools from across England were invited to attend the awards and celebrate best practice in the promotion of sustainable and active travel.
The awards events took place at Everyman Cinemas, the ideal location for a celebration event. Following an introduction from the Modeshift STARS team, David Eliot Cooper from Histrionics led proceedings with Modeshift STARS show. This entertaining show told the story ‘Nonplanton’ a town with out a Travel Plan. The story leads to a town in chaos with pupils struggling to get to school. Assisted by willing volunteers from a number of schools, the pupils supported the story telling with some top class acting.
Opening the afternoon sessions, colleagues from the Department for Transport addressed the delegates and congratulated all nominated schools for their hard work and commitment to promoting sustainable travel and achieving STARS accreditation before presenting the awards.
